This is another song my dad used to sing to us. My youngest brother used to cry when he sang it. I guess it sounded sad to him. This would be considered a politically incorrect song to sing now days, but it is part of my history and I like it. ( I just discovered this was in my Dad's barbershop quartet book. That is probably why he sang it to us. Update 3-19-2010)
Gone are the days, when my heart was young and gay.
Gone are my friends from the cotton fields away.
Gone from the earth to a better land I know.
I hear their gentle voices calling, Old Black Joe.
I'm coming, I'm coming, though my head is bending low.

Written by Stephen Foster circa 1860
My hope is to leave a musical heritage for my grandchildren. Childhood songs I remember from school, songs my Dad sang to me as a child, Hymns and Psalms I love, and songs from History using Singsnap as an aid. I saw recently someone said, "Anything you hear or see here that is good is from God and anything that is bad is from me". I pray that you will recognize that as you visit this blog.

Come Rosey, my posey
Come Rosey my posey,
your weary or dozey.
Come sit upon your daddy's knee.
Sweet songs I will sing you,
Sweet thoughts I will bring you.
Come cuddle up cozy to me. Click here for vocal
This was a very comforting song sung to me as a little girl. Then listening to my dad sing the same song to each of my 4 siblings while they were little and in need of cuddling was an additional comfort. I will include singing of this song as soon as I figure how to post home audio.

Singsnap
You will see the Singsnap boxes toward the bottom of the page where I have been finding older easy listening type music to sing to. There are 6 as of today. This website is free and really quite fun. If you want access to more of the music offerings you have to pay for what is called a "gold" membership. I have found that my voice range and style matches more to Patti Page, Dinah Shore, Jo Stafford, maybe Karen Carpenter. I am old enough and do not listen to more modern music so much of the more recent songs are unknown to me. Some of the older country music might be a possibility for me. Join me while I experiment for fun. Singsnap.com is where to go if you want to try this fun karaoke type website.
